Expanding Infrastructure for Future Production
The Karachaganak Expansion Project (KEP) represents the next stage of the field's long-term development strategy. Designed to sustain stabilized liquid production while managing increasing gas-oil ratios, the programme introduces new processing facilities, advanced gas reinjection systems, and additional production infrastructure that integrates seamlessly with existing operations.
KEP1A introduced the 5th Injection Compressor and associated facilities, enhancing gas reinjection capability and reservoir pressure maintenance. Building on this success, KEP1B includes the 6th Injection Compressor, additional gas dehydration facilities, expanded gathering systems, and new supporting infrastructure to maximize production efficiency and long-term resource recovery.
